Practical Strategies To Improve Resiliency In Business And In Life

Today there are so many adverse situations and circumstances we are exposed to. Whether we are self employed or unemployed, single or married with children, young or old, we all can learn how to better cope in our lives when we learn how to be more resilient having the ability to cope, bounce back, renew and revitalize. We must make a conscious effort to learn and apply strategies in order to live our healthiest lives.

Take some time to think for a moment of some situations that have occurred in your life where you became an emotional wreck, or really angry and perhaps out of control. Where you able to regain control of yourself soon after? Or did it take months or even years to overcome? May be you still are holding on to these emotions causing you stress, which research has shown can lead to disease.

We are all exposed to people or circumstances in our lives that can push us to our limits of self control. It is our perception and how much we allow the particular person or circumstance to negatively impact our lives. This can be directly altered by how resilient we are. The sooner you can turn it around to have a positive impact upon you, where you can discover your inner strength and grow from it the better.

We begin practicing these skills as a young child. A friend at school may have laughed at your new hair cut, or your best friend chose to play with someone else at recess. Did you let this ruin your entire day? Were you able to find resolve and move on?

How do you let the adversity of your daily life impact you now? If your day is like a snowball having one bad thing happening to you after another, or you feel completely overwhelmed with life piling too much upon you, learning how to be resilient will be imperative to your overall health and wellbeing.

Strategies you can apply daily

1. Remember to Breathe~ The best thing you can do is take a deep easy breath through your nostrils if you can. While breathing in, think of the positive outcome you wish to welcome into your life, allowing your abdomen to expand and shoulders to relax. As soon as you feel full, dump the exhalation like a relaxed silent sigh, letting go of all you do not want. Repeat until you feel better. This can become your automatic response to most forms of stress, which do not warrant a "fight or flight" response.

2. Get Out Doors~ There are so many benefits for your health when you get outdoors, oxygen intake, vitamin D, hopefully exercise as well as connecting to the universal life source, the "All That Is." When you recognize that you yourself are this energy being, made of the same elements from the cosmos as everything else, your relationships to everything and everyone around you improve.

3. Schedule Alone Time~ We must make a conscious effort to make this time available in our lives. Whether it is just 5 minutes a day to BE. Close your eyes, free your mind, breathe and welcome peace into your life. This can be challenging, especially at first depending how much time you allow yourself. Your mind chatter may take more time than you have to quiet. The more you practice, the better you will get at it.

4. Recognize Your Energy Levels~ When you understand you are an energy being vibrating at various frequencies, you will then be more aware of which environments you can directly correlate with energy levels you are feeling. If you work at a computer you should not sit for longer than 90 minutes. You need a movement break. Stand up, stretch walk around, after revisit your work.

5. Drink Water~ This may seem obvious, but we must make certain we are drinking enough water. Our brains are roughly 85% water and our bodies 75%. These percentages decrease with age as well as our ability to determine when we are thirsty. We should be drinking eight 8oz. glasses of water daily. This intake amount is not to be substituted by other beverages like caffeine and alcohol. Rember, exercise and heat all contribute to dehydration. Buy a stainless steel water bottle to bring with you wherever you go.

Rest, exercise, eat healthy and love your life! Share your gifts with others.
